I am sorry for not posting for the past few days, but between my little dude being off of school for Spring Break, and taking the role of Easter Bunny this year, I haven’t had time to sit down for 5 minutes, let alone find the energy to post.
Here is how my Easter Weekend went:
Little Dude and I had a BLAST making Easter Eggs…. although I now know what it is like to trust a child with food coloring near a beige carpet…. No harm done, stains are out, and our eggs turned out beautifully.
We had Movie and Popcorn night… which is a LUXURY in our house, since we are always busy, and because my honey works most evenings. We popped a HUGE bowl of popcorn, cuddled on the couch – and watched Planet 51.
WHAT a cute movie! For those who have kids under 10, or are just big kids at heart – This movie far surpassed my expectations… and little dude stayed quiet and cuddled throughout the entire movie… that in itself was worth it!
Easter Morning was SO MUCH FUN! We got to sleep in until 9 – and barely made it to our first cup of coffee before my little dude was chomping at the bit to get started… We gave him his basket, and he was off to find hidden treasures all over the house. It took about an hour and a half for him to find everything…. Our cat Sophia helped – apparently she is enamoured with the smell of hard-boiled eggs…LOL It was comical watching her hunt for easter eggs of her own. When the last chocolate was in the basket, all our handmade easter eggs were back in the fridge ;), and after coffee had been consumed, we brought out one more very special gift for little dude….
A brand new Epiphone Custom SG guitar!! My rock-star-in-the-making freaked!! He has been toying around with a guitar for almost 2 years now, and is really serious about learning… he eats, sleeps, and lives music, and I am so happy that he has found a passion so early on in life. We wanted to make sure that it wasn’t a passing fancy before we invested in a decent guitar – but he has proven that he is ready to take on the responsibility. WHAT A LUCKY BOY! He hasn’t put it down since! We went over to my Mom and Dad’s for a really nice Easter Dinner, and he had to bring it with him to show everyone… The first 100 times this past weekend he said “Tim, how do you play_____(fill in the blank with whatever song you choose)” it was really cute…. but it is a little um… interesting to wake up to that question instead of “Good Morning Mom”. 😉 Even still, I am really happy for him. I believe that music plays an integral part in child development. I think it is a really positive thing for kids to embrace and be involved in. Some tots start with piano lessons, some start playing the flute in their school band… mine has decided to be a rock star and play electric guitar…. HOPEFULLY he won’t be asking for a drum kit this time next year 😉
So Easter has been full of good memories, yummy food, a little too much chocolate, and music… My chores are done, the house is as clean as it is going to get, my honey has the day off, AND I have the luxury of having a little ME time today…. My boys are going to write a musical masterpiece today AKA… My son wants to write a rock song with the 2 chords he knows… and my big dude will have to fill in the rest to make it sound like an actual song… ha ha ha….what more can a girl ask for?
Oh ya – and I have had my pain under control the past few days as well! So THAT is a good thing!!
I hope you had a splendid Easter as well – full of your own happy memories.
HUGS and LOVE.
