I have read a lot of interesting literature about vitamin D deficiency and its effect on our bodies. There has been a lot of news lately about how most of us are deficient in this vitamin, and how our lifestyle prevents us from getting enough daylight to be healthy. Because a great deal of our day we spend indoors, either in office buildings, or at home raising our children, also the knowledge that the sun can be harmful, we tend to take daylight for granted.
There has been some groundbreaking research done in the past little while that points to Vitamin D deficiency being a factor in many illnesses, Chronic Pain being one of them. But it also could be a factor in autoimmune diseases, birth defects, Heart disease, and even MS!!
Many scientists believe that the suggested dose listed on vitamin bottles is archaic and we need much more vitamin D that we have ever thought before.
I know I am guilty of not taking this supplement as often as I should, and I am now committed to changing that. I first need to find out exactly how many IU’s a chronic pain patient should take everyday to max out the benefits without getting toxic. I have heard this number could reach 6000 IU’s or more, but better safe than sorry, I want to make sure!
BUT THIS IS SOMETHING WE SHOULD ALL BE DOING! CHRONIC ILLNESS OR NOT!! PREVENTION IS THE BEST CURE!!

Are you taking enough vitamin d?
There are plenty of articles online for you to read. Do some of your own research, and the next time you see your Doctor you should ask if you might be needing to bump up your supplements! It is SO important to be our OWN health advocates!!
I am going to give it a try, and I’ll let you all know how it work for me!
